Types of Noun of parts of speech in English grammar


Noun is a part of speech

Noun.

It is one of the main Parts of Speech. A good, universal, description of a noun is that it is something which is used toward name a thing, person, idea or an object such as Nomi, Sidney or table.

Common noun.

It is the noun which is used for common person, thing or place such as: girl, city or table.

Examples of common noun

we can use it in sentences in this way:-

· Girl is very sweet.

· Pick up these books carefully.


Proper noun

Proper nouns are used for special thing, person or place such as: Ali America. Proper nouns are always capitalized.

· America is a big country.

Concrete Nouns

We can see and touch it easily. Book and table are its good examples.

· Tree is long and green.

Abstract Nouns

Sometimes we cannot see or touch a noun. Love, happiness, courage are abstract noun because we cannot see or touch them. These are concepts or feelings.

· He faced the problems with courage.

Singular noun

The noun which explains one person place or thing such as: cat or spoon.

Plural noun

The noun which represents more than one person or thing such as: cats or spoons.

Collective noun

It is a noun which represents the name of a group of people or things taken together and marked as one whole such as: Flock, Army, Police and community.

Non countable

It is the noun of those things which do not tell the number but give the quantity such as: Juice, milk and sugar.

Countable noun

Are the nouns which can be easily counted such as: spoons and knife.

Examples of Countable noun

Compound Nouns

A compound noun is a noun that is made with two or more words such as: father-in-law, bus stop.

Examples of Compound Nouns

· Bus reached on the bus stop.
· My father-in-law is a kind man.

Material Noun

Matter or substance name is called material noun such as: gold, silver and iron.

Examples of Material Noun

· Gold is expensive than silver.
· I need ten iron bars.
